CAE0765 - EKG Technician
This course prepares students to perform EKGs and includes basic anatomy and physiology of the heart, medical disease processes, medical terminology, medical ethics, legal aspects of patient contact, emergencies related to cardiac testing: syncope, chest pain, and abnormal vitals. Students will also learn about arrhythmias, calculating heart rates, and types of ECGs. This comprehensive course prepares students to take the Certified EKG Technician exam. Additionally, students will practice with EKG equipment and perform hands on labs including introduction to the function and proper use of the EKG machine.

The program suits entry-level seekers and provides opportunities for allied health professionals to upskill. It is particularly beneficial for Phlebotomists seeking career advancement.
The program prepares students for the Certified Medical Lab Assistant (CMLA) exam, granting provisional certification upon passing. Graduates accumulate the 120 hours of clinical experience required for full certification. Additionally, students gain knowledge for the Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) certification through the National Healthcareer Association (NHA), involving live venipuncture and capillary sticks.
CAE0360 Nursing Assistant
Learn the overall concept of being a nursing assistant. Prepare to work with people of various demographics and establish foundational skills that expand the students' understanding of their role in healthcare. This covers the role of a Nursing Assistant, safety, basic nursing care, rehabilitation and restorative care, infection control and patient care. The course also includes interactive activities, simulated laboratory experiences and hands-on experience in a designated clinical setting. Upon completion of this course, students will be able to sit for the National Healthcareer Association's Patient Care Technician/Assistant (CPCT/A) exam.
