Attention students completing short-term and technical education credentialing courses:

The Open-Door scholarship, funded by the Department of Education is now available through Broward College to close the workforce skills gap needed by Florida workers. This program allows participants to successfully attain a workforce certificate in high-demand fields. Also, the Open-Door Scholarship Program covers 100% of the cost associated with the approved courses listed below to cover the cost of tuition, fees, examination, books, and materials.

STEPS for student interested in CE workforce programs please:

  1. Complete Eligibility Assessment Form
  2. Completes Continuing Education application and residency.
  3. Receive Award Notification and Registration Instructions (5-7 Business Days) 
  4. Registers into approved course
  5. Completes program successfully.

Minimum Eligibility Criteria:

Applicant must be:

  • Florida resident for at least one year
  • 18 years or older
  • Meet course specific requirements

How do I Sign up?

Students must complete a course selection application for review by selecting the course above. Upon approval, you will be registered into the class and provided additional instructions.

 

Who is qualified to take a Free course?

Credential Programs are FREE to help individuals, particularly those negatively impacted by unemployment and underemployment, quickly train for a career. Find out if you qualify.

 

Can I Enroll in more than one course?

No. We want to make sure anyone in need can benefit from these programs, so we are only allowing one course per student. Please select wisely, as you will not be able to change or transfer into another course. Courses will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.

 

Will I receive a certificate?

Yes, upon successful completion of the course work and passing the end of course exam and project on the first attempt, you will receive a certificate of completion.

 

Will I need access to a computer?

Yes. The program will be offered entirely online so you will need a computer and internet
access to complete a course.

 

When will I know if I've been approved for a free course?

Once you submit your registration application, you will receive an email with class information;
however, you will be able to access the class after the verification process that takes up to 3 business days.

Note that you are only allowed to apply for one program. Students will not be allowed to
complete multiple free courses at the same time.

 

Can I start the course once I register?

No. You can start the course once it is verified. The registration verification process takes up
to 3 business days after completing the application.

 

How can I start the course?

Once your application registration is submitted, you will receive an email with enrollment information. The class will be active after verification process is done.
