The Peer Mentoring program has over 100 paid part-time AmeriCorps positions available every year for eligible candidates. These student mentorship positions are called "Peer Leaders.

Peer Leaders (mentors) serve on the three main Broward College campuses: North Campus (Coconut Creek), Central Campus (Davie), and South Campus (Pembroke Pines). The positions require candidates to serve 100% on campus and in person.

These AmeriCorps positions start in the Fall Semester and require a 1-year commitment until July 31 in the Summer.

Additional Position Expectations:

• Attend a mandatory 2 or 3 day Fall Orientation and training and a Spring Training
• Complete the minimum position hours requirement by July 31
• Hold regular Peer Mentoring sessions in person and virtually
• Submit all reporting and grant required documents by program deadlines
• Meet program Volunteerism requirements
• Support all program activities, events, and partnerships
• Work in a TEAM and actively collaborate with peers and program staff to achieve program goals
• Be able to commit to 1 year of service (Fall until Summer)
• Have or be willing to develop excellent communication and leadership skills
• Be accountable to position duties, code of conduct, and tasks
• Attend and actively participate in monthly team meetings
• Have excellent customer service skills
• Be Willing to model student success
• Be a " Peer Leader" able to model student success
• Be an active participant ready to serve, share resources and grow professionally
• Be willing to learn and engage in a dynamic environment
• Be able to complete program mandatory trainings by established deadlines
• Complete other duties as assigned

There are 2 types of positions available:

Lead Peer Leader

• Requires a minimum of 1200 hrs for the service year
• Serves as Campus Team Non-Supervisory Lead
• Supports the Program Mentoring Coordinator and Director
• Leads Campus Team Success Goals
• Co-mentors team members
• Provides peer-to-peer mentoring to a group of up to 15 student mentees
• Leads Community Service efforts
• Serves in Campus campaigns such as mentees recruitment and more

Peer Leader

• Requires a minimum of 675 hrs for the service year
• Serves in a Campus Team of Peer Leaders
• Supports the Program Mentoring Coordinator and Director
• Supports Campus Team Success Goals
• Provides peer-to-peer mentoring to a group of up to 15 student mentees
• Serves in Community Service efforts
• Serves in Campus campaigns such as mentees recruitment and more

Peer Mentors receive a variety of benefits as AmeriCorps and Broward College members. These benefits are position specific and include:

Please submit your complete application to be considered for a peer mentor position in the Fall term. Applications received after this deadline will be considered on an as-needed basis. Positions will be open until filled.
