Broward College has partnered with Lyft to assist students that are experiencing transportation challenges. Students who are currently enrolled may be eligible for a Lyft credit worth up to $100.00. Lyft credits will be disbursed on a first-come-first-served basis. This program is intended to be supplemental. It should not be used as a long-term primary mode of transportation.

Eligibility Criteria

Students must be registered for classes this semester.

Ride credits can only be used if the ride begins or ends from one of the following approved campus locations:

How to Sign-Up

Complete the Lyft Application

Please plan and allow a minimum of two (2) - three (3) business days for us to process your request.
If you are experiencing a transportation emergency that requires immediate assistance or if you do not have a smartphone or the ability to add a payment method to the Lyft app, please call 954-201-5938 between 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. or 954-201-5938 between 1 p.m. - 6 p.m.

If you encounter a problem with your Lyft code when setting up your first ride please call 954-201-5938 for assistance. If you encounter a problem with your code at the end of the ride please use the help button (at the bottom of the profile) in the Lyft app for assistance.

If you completed the application and did not receive an email with a code and believe this was in error, please email Willy Tejeda at lyft@broward.edu.

Important Information

  • Students are responsible for taxes, tips, late/cancelation fees and surcharges
  • Students will be responsible for a $5.00 fee if they cancel a ride 2 minutes after the driver has been dispatched or if they do not show up after 5 minutes from the time the driver has arrived per Lyft policy.
  • Students will be responsible for the cost of the ride if they request a ride that it is not to or from an approved location,
  • Students need to have a payment method connected to my Lyft App unless they qualify for the approved special circumstances by contacting SOS staff.
  • Broward College Lyft Ride program only pays for standard Lyft vehicles and not XL or Lux.

  • Verify your ride by making sure the license plate number, driver information, and car make and model match what you see in the app.
  • Share your location and route with a friend or loved one from within the Lyft app so they can follow your ride in real-time.
  • Follow the Lyft vehicle on GPS via the app.
  • Ask the driver to say who they are picking up.
  • Learn more about how to ride smart with Lyft.

FAQs

You can purchase a pre-paid gift card or Lyft gift card at your local supermarket or convenience store. If you are not able to do this, we may be able to call the ride for you. If so, please call 954-201-3621 between 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. or 954-201-4SOS (4767) between 1 p.m. - 6 p.m.

Your code credit will not cover tips. You would have to pay out of pocket if you chose to do so. 100% of the tips go to the driver. Please go to the Lyft Help website for additional information.

You will be charged a $5 no-show fee. This fee is not covered by Broward College Lyft Ride Program. You may set up another ride through the app.

You are responsible for all additional fees if your rides surpass the allotted credit and will have to pay the difference.

You can request an eligible ride if your destination ends or begins at one of our approved locations. (E.g. You can get a round trip ride from home to campus for a Food Distribution event or to pick up a loaner laptop.)
