Sophia Galvin
Vice President of Talent and Culture
Sophia Galvin is a transformative Human Resources (HR) leader, renowned for elevating organizational performance through a strong and dynamic culture. With over twenty years of HR functional experience in healthcare, retail, and higher education, Ms. Galvin has a proven track record of driving strategic initiatives and fostering inclusive workplace environments. She currently serves as the head of Talent and Culture, leading the planning, operation, and evaluation of the college's comprehensive talent functions, including Attraction, Selection and Retention, Employee and Labor Relations, Total Rewards, Culture and Employee Engagement, and Workplace Learning.
Prior to joining Broward College in 2019, Ms. Galvin was the National Director of Corporate Talent at Cancer Treatment Centers of America®, where she was responsible for full-cycle Talent Management, including Employee Relations, Performance Management, Annual Salary Planning (Merit), Leadership Development, as well as Culture and Organizational Health.
Ms. Galvin's exceptional contributions to the field of Human Resources have been recognized with prestigious awards. She is a recent recipient of the College University Professional Association (CUPA) National HR Excellence Award, acknowledging her outstanding leadership and innovative practices in Human Resources. Additionally, she was honored by the South Florida Business and Wealth Magazine with the Excellence in Human Resources Award, further cementing her reputation as a leader who significantly impacts her organization and the broader HR community.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Ms. Galvin is actively involved in the community and has a history of serving various business and civic organizations. Currently, she serves on the board of directors for Goodwill Industries of South Florida and is a member of the Human Resource Committee for the Boys and Girls Club of Broward County. In the past, she has made significant contributions as a board member for the Women's Fund of Miami-Dade, as vice-chair for the Florida State Supplier Development Council, and as Minority Enterprise Development (MED) Week chair for the Minority Business Development Agency.
Ms. Galvin earned her Bachelor of Science from Florida State University and a Master of Science in Human Resource Management from St. Thomas University. She holds the Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification and is a proud graduate of Leadership Florida Class 40.
