The Defense Language Proficiency Test (DLPT) is series of end of course assessments used by the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center (DLIFLC) as part of the foreign language training for the U.S. military and federal government agencies with personnel requiring foreign language training to perform their job. The DLPT exams are reliable, scientifically validated tools for testing language ability. To receive credit, one must be a current Broward College student, be degree seeking, and meet minimum exam score requirements. Scores must be sent to BC officially from the DLIFLC to receive credit. Broward College uses the minimum scores, credits, and guidelines for awarding credit for exams established by the State of Florida's Articulation Coordinating Committee (ACC).
DLPT Scoring:
DLIFLC reports converted scores for the listening comprehension, reading comprehension, and speaking portions of the DLPT III and DLPT IV, which are only concorded to scores as high as ILR level 3. For the DLPT5, scores are reported according to the ILR (Interagency Language Roundtable) Proficiency Level Descriptors (0, 0+, 1, 1+, 2, 2+, 3, 3+, 4).
Broward College uses the minimum scores, credits, and guidelines for awarding credit for exams established by the State of Florida's Articulation Coordinating Committee (ACC). For additional information, please review Broward College Policy 6Hx2-4.11 and Broward College Procedure A6Hx2-4.11.
