Course Description: This course provides students technical skills necessary to service complex patient personal care and medical assisting issues including the implementation of selected portions of a specific care plan that may include rehabilitation services, bedside care, collection of laboratory specimens, phlebotomy, and EKG’s. This comprehensive 50-hour EKG Technician Certification Program prepares students to function as EKG Technicians and to take the ASPT – Electrocardiograph (EKG) Technician exam and other National Certification Exams. Additionally, students will practice with EKG equipment and perform hands-on labs including an introduction to the function and proper use of the EKG machine, the normal anatomy of the chest wall for proper lead placement, 12-lead placement, and other clinical practices.

This program prepares students for a position as an Assisted Living Technician whose role is to help adults who desire to live independently and do not need full-time nursing care. Duties may include dressing, bathing, eating, toileting, or ambulation/transportation to other areas. Students will gain an understanding of the assisted living environment.
