Academic Testing

The Broward College Testing and Assessment Centers offer several types of academic testing to support student learning needs. 

Blended

Blended testing is available for BC students taking classroom tests in a Traditional or Blended course which have the course user fee attached to the course. Blended course testing is determined by the faculty member prior to the start of course registration. Blended course testing is only available on campus at a Testing and Assessment Center. 

Process for Students in Face to Face (Traditional) or Blended Course(s):

Not available for Online or Online Live courses. 

Steps in the Blended Testing Process:

  • All Blended testing must be submitted electronically by the faculty member to the Testing and Assessment Center for processing. 
  • Once the submission has been processed by the Testing and Assessment Center, the exam will be made available in the online appointment syste, RegisterBlast. 
  • Visit the Testing and Assessment Center Locations webpage and find the campus where your class takes place.
  • Click on the Register button to make your appointment. 
  • Follow the steps below to register for an available appointment.

  • Please note that the timing of these steps varies by professor and the timing of test submission to the Testing and Assessment Center.

Steps to Register in RegisterBlast:

  1. Select Broward College Student
  2. Select Blended Courses
  3. Select the appropriate Blended subject area (Note that math courses will have an additional step based on the type of math course)
  4. Select the exam with your Course ID, Professor Last Name, Course Reference #, and Test #
  5. Choose an alternate Testing and Assessment Center if appropriate
  6. Choose a Date
  7. Choose a Time
  8. Complete your personal information, upload required documents, and complete all questions and acknowledgements
  9. Add to Cart and Checkout

This resources is restricted to BC employees only. 

Make-up

Make-up testing is available at the Broward College campus where a student's course is taken in the campus Testing and Assessment Center. Make-up testing availability is at the discretion of the professor based on their syllabus policies. Make-up testing is only applicable for students who missed a classroom test. Retaking a test is not considered make-up testing.

Available for Face to Face and Blended course modalities only. Unavailable for Online and Online Live course modalities. 

Effective Fall 2023 starting on August 18, 2023 and beyond, there will be a testing fee for all make-up exams. See the fee section for the specific fee.

Steps in the Make-up Testing Process:

  1. All Make-up testing must first be approved by the faculty member teaching the course and submitted electronically to the Testing and Assessment Center for processing.
  2. Once processed by the Testing and Assessment Center, the exam will be made available in the online appointment system.
  3. Visit the Testing and Assessment Center Locations webpage and find the campus where your class takes place.
  4. Click the Register button to make your appointment.
  5. Follow the steps below to register for an available appointment.

  1. Select Broward College Student
  2. Select Make-Up Exams
  3. Select the appropriate BC Make-up Exam subject area
  4. Select the exam with your Course ID, Professor Last Name, Course Reference #, and Your Name
  5. Select an Alternate Exam Location if needed only
  6. Choose a Date
  7. Choose a Time
  8. Complete your personal information, Upload required documents, and Complete all questions and acknowledgements

Accommodated

Broward College Testing and Assessment Centers offer accommodated testing services for BC students taking classroom tests in a Traditional or Blended course. Accommodations are determined by the Accessibility Resources. Services provided vary according to student needs. Available testing accommodations are provided on an as-need basis.

Testing Accommodations for BC Online or BC Online Live courses are handed by the BC Online department.

Accommodations for other tests are handled according to the specified test vendor process. Check with your Campus Testing and Assessment Center for details on requesting accommodations for non-classroom tests such as CLEP, ACCUPLACER NG and ESL, HESI A2, etc.

Process for Students in Face to Face (Traditional) or Blended Course(s):

Students in Online or Online Live courses must contact their professor and Accessibility Resources for remote accommodated testing options.

Steps in the Accommodated Testing Process:

  • Please encourage your professor to submit your accommodated testing requests early each semester. 
  • Professor must electronically submit test submission to the Testing and Assessment Center for processing and scheduling of appropriate accommodated space, equipment, and/or staffing.
  • If you will you be using any of the following accommodations approved for you by Accessibility Resources during this appointment, first contact the Campus Testing and Assessment Center (954-201-6134) where you plan to test prior to scheduling to verify the space and/or staffing is available for your requested day.
    • Private Room
    • Reader, Scribe, or Both
  • Once the submission has been processed by the Testing and Assessment Center and you have confirmed availability of space or staffing (if needed), the exam will be made available in the online appointment system.
  • Student visits the Testing and Assessment Center Locations webpage for their Campus Testing and Assessment Center to schedule their appointment in RegisterBlast for the day and time to test.
  • Student arrives at the Testing and Assessment Center on the day and time of the test.

Students in Online or Online Live courses must contact their professor and Accessibility Resources for remote accommodated testing options.

Notes:

  • Please note that the timing of these steps varies by professor and the timing of test submission to the Testing and Assessment Center.
  • It is highly recommended that students plan in advance to schedule accommodated testing with their professor(s), Accessibility Resources, and the Campus Testing and Assessment Center at the start of each semester.

  2. Select OAR Classroom Exams
  3. Select the appropriate OAR Classroom Exam subject area
  4. Select the exam with your Course ID, Professor Last Name, Course Reference #, and Your Name
  5. This step is not available
  6. Choose a Date
  7. Choose a Time
  8. Complete your personal information, upload required documents, and complete all questions and acknowledgements
  9. Add to Cart and Checkout
